Alta awarded $40,000 from the Circle of Friends
Health Circle of Friends Foundation, Foundation President.
Alta Care Group, the Valley agency committed to the social, emotional, behavioral, educational and physical well-being of children, adolescents, young adults and families in our community, was recently awarded $40,000 from the Children’s Mental Health Circle of Friends Foundation.
“We are incredibly grateful and honored to receive this gift from Children’s Mental Health Circle of Friends Foundation. Thanks to their generosity, we’ll be able to invest in two of our growing programs that are benefitting children and families throughout the Mahoning Valley,” Joe Shorokey, Chief Executive Officer of Alta Care Group, said.
The gift will be used in support of Alta’s Camp Challenge Program and the Classroom Connections Program (school-based mental health).
Camp Challenge is an Intensive Experiential Group Counseling Program designed to use behavior modification and cognitive behavioral therapy in group settings to improve behaviors. The program is designed for youth between the ages of six and 12.
The Classroom Connections Program provides on-site behavioral health services in numerous schools throughout Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. The services are designed to promote improved academic performance by addressing non-academic barriers that interfere with learning. These services also help teaching staff with developing strategies that promote success.
