Behavioral Healthcare

Early Childhood 0-5

Children at this age may show difficulties with challenging behaviors, learning delays and accompanying frustration. It is important to develop close relationships with family members at this age. If your child has difficulty following directions, excessive tantrums, socialization issues forming close relationships and/or behavioral problems, it may be time to speak to an Alta clinician.

Childhood 5-9

Children at this age are getting more exposure to social media and peers. Children will start to develop interest or curiosity about adult activity and desires to impress peers. If your child has difficulty following directions, being attentive, socialization issues, impulsiveness and/or behavioral problems, it may be time to speak to an Alta clinician.

Pre Adolescents 9-12

Children at this age are starting to think of themselves as “young adults” and will start to become more reliant on peer approval. They may start to show signs of defiant behavior, feelings of awkwardness and becoming more aware of sexual feelings. If your child has noticeable mood swings, attentiveness, dropping grades and personality changes, it may be time to speak to an Alta clinician.

Adolescents 13-19

Children at this age are starting to look more adult-like and want to exercise their freedom more. They may challenge parents more, become susceptible to peer influences and experience emotional, physical and intellectual changes. If your child is experiencing a lack of motivation, dropping grades, feelings of low self esteem and/or substance use, it may be time to speak to an Alta clinician.

Young Adults 19-21

People at this age are more motivated to change. They are more likely to choose to be involved in therapy. Young adults are more in need of assistance transitioning to adulthood and independence, but still may experience difficulties with anger management, anxiety or social issues.

If your child is ready to transition to adulthood, Alta offers services to help them develop skills, like money management, housing information, continuing education and more to navigate through life’s uncertainties.
