For nearly a decade, Alta has been providing Head Start and Early Head Start services at its 11 locations throughout Mahoning County serving 760 children and their families each year. With this new grant, Alta will bring its total number of locations to over 20 and over 1,100 children served each year.

“We are honored with the trust the Office of Head Start has placed in us at Alta Care Group to expand our operations and continue providing these vital education, health and wellness services to children and families in Trumbull County,” Joe Shorokey, Chief Executive Officer of Alta Care Group, said.

This transition also means new services will soon be available to eligible Trumbull Counties families including Early Head Start for infants and toddlers under the age of three and the Expectant Mothers Program.

“These new programs coupled with our Five Star Step Up to Quality rated services, experienced educational staff, free dental, health and eye exams, as well as coordinated care for additional services such as physical therapy and more, is part of our holistic approach to giving children and families a true head start,” Lori Stellmar, Alta Head Start Director, said.

State Representative, Nick Santucci added “Today, more than ever, we recognize the power of community and the importance of supporting the development of our young children. The grant awarded to Alta is a testament to their commitment to the social-emotional development of our Valley’s children and supporting their families.”

Both Alta and TCAP are committed to a seamless transition and continuity of services and want to assure the community that Head Start/Early Head Start services will continue in our community uninterrupted.
